Anyone follow the F1 this year? With not many laps to go, its all over by Webber for the look of it... Shame.

Im glad Alonso didnt win personally. *Vettel did deserve it, even if it was a shame Mark was quite possibly sacrificed to dummy the Ferraris into making a pitstop.

I just hope Vettel isnt too annoying though.

Even dropping so many points with mistakes and reliability, Red Bull still got both titles and had both drivers in with a shot at the end of the season.

Next time you see two Renaults in front of you - its a trap :P

It certainly seemed odd that Mark was sitting so far back from alonso. Looked like a poor effort really didnt it. Team orders would explain a lot.

    Yep....

Vettel is RBs blue-eyed boy and suits their franchise aspirations that he holds the WC Cup.... Too much politics in F1, takes all the fun out of it for me....

Has to be the most boring race I have ever watched too. Season final should be on a less than perfect track with the chance of weather and all that stuff to make it interesting. Everything was to clinical at abu dhabi and plain boring.

Funny I wasnt too cynical until I read the posts here and I can now see that perhaps there was a reason for Mark Webber driving like he was on out on a first date.

    Re: 2010 F1 Discussion...

I reckon theres 3 possibilities for Webbers poor performance last night:
    1. He simply didnt have the speed in the car - neither in qualifying nor in the race
    2. The team took a chance on the early tyre change as they could see he wasnt going to win it from where he was, hoping for another safety car
    3. The team made the call deliberately knowing Alonso would have to cover (ala Americas Cup - tacking now, opponent tacks to cover) and thereby giving the golden child (SV) an easy run home

At least the guy finally had a good season, with a decent car and team behind him.
There can only be one winner.
I say well done Mark Webber, still a champ in my book!

Webbers car SHOULD have been the fastest on track. RBR cars were pretty consistent in proving they were the car to beat, and unless Im mistaken, Webber was using a fresh engine. Alonso was using one of his qualifying ones from a few races ago I think...

Webber was on used engines also. He tried at least two different ones over practice/qualifying

The engine situation was quite complicated in the end, unless Alonso had been using it previous during practice session he was free to use his first engine (Bahrain) only for the last event due to a technicality. *Mark was using his Brazil engine on the Friday practice to get some more clues about why the engine was running so hot in Brazil.

Mark should have been faster but I think qualifying showed that he wasnt really upto speed. *The reason primarily was the tyre temp/pressure based on what he said later - loosing too much temperature as the night was arriving dropped the pressure, causing more temp loss and so on.

He was even looking at telemetry in P3 to match Vettels pace, only to have Vettel go faster in qualifying.

Ever since RB retarded the ignition to create extra downforce using the exhaust blowing through the diffuser, Seb has done much better than Mark. *It was quite likely, as suggested elsewhere, that Mark was better able to handle the car when the car was less planted while braking and through slower corners while the exhaust flow was lower due to being off the throttle.

Its hard to know if there was more than that apart from the obvious backing of Seb in the team and its emotional effects on Mark - but I do think fivegallons 3 points are all involved to some extent. Regardless Mark has had his best year ever by far and hopefully he will do very well next year.

I think he realises too that had he not made that critical error in Korea he may well have won that race and it would have potentially won him the title. So I think he knew when he got stuck behind Alonso after being held up behind Alguersuari that it was looking all done and dusted. *He might have got in front of Alonso had Alguersuari let him pass immediately and the Renaults may have let him through - but thats all speculation.

I preferred Vettel over Alonso. *Only problem is Vettel is more annoying.

Cant wait for GT5 on the 24th, with this in it.

Never thought I would see something like this - if its true then maybe there is hope.

Goes some of the way to restoring my support towards Vettel if it is true.

All he needs to learn to do now is overtake :P

Well it is possible that SV is maturing.

One thing i noticed throughout the season at the post-qualifying and post-race interviews is that SB would very rarely if ever mention MWs name.
With the other drivers you would see Hamilton praising his team-mate or Alonso praising others and even Mark saying what a good job Seb did, but not from Seb himself.
The problem with F1 is having two championships. Makes it half a team race and half an individual race.
Footballers go out to win a premiership, a Bronlow medal is a by-product of that.
    F1 isnt quite that clear-cut.

Lets hope Webber is back in the same seat next year and can prove to his knockers that he deserved to be up where he finished this year.

Yep I have notice that Seb doesnt tend to mention and interact with other drivers as much as the others did this year. Not necessarily bad but it does make things seem a bit less tense. Im hoping Vettel matures a bit he generally looks like a better personality than Schumacher was and less win at any cost.

Mark should have a good year next year though as long as the car is up there, which is should be. There are some videos on the BBC F1 site that are interesting.
