...and it raises a point of off-topic discussion. How many have been willing to buy ordinary coffee because the barista is more than easy on the eye? <raises hand guiltily>

Re: Would you put up with poor coffee if the barista was good looking?

I vote "Maybe, but he/she would have to be really hot" because I survived for 39 years on crap coffee, I could survive occasionally a littel bit more for some eye candy.

    BUT

Only if I could continue to make my own at home, so at least I had a chance to recalibrated my taste-buds!

No but she could make me a hot chocolate. If I was desperate I find long blacks are much more bearable badly made than other coffees. I also can stand Cold coffee or affogato much better badly made. Plenty of options.

I think I could, as long as it was a coffee bar where I could chat with the barista while she was making my coffee. Shed have to be pretty smoking though (Im realising now I think about it the woman at the place I used to go was smoking hot, and the coffee was ok (not brilliant), and I still dont go there any more).

Would you put up with an ugly barista in a foul mood with offensive body odors and emissions if the espresso was really good? *

Sounds like the new place we found. Hotness just does not cut it in a barista when I want a coffee in the morning. Its the coffee what is important. The "new" place is a customer service not hell, but not great... however the coffee keeps us coming back.

I have modded the survey a little and you can change your vote up to 24 hours after casting if you change your mind

Sounds like relationships really - would you put up with a poor bed technique if the partner was really hot? All depends on their attitude when you tell them how to do it properly. ;D

Re: Would you put up with poor coffee if the barista was good looking?

Seeing as how ordinary, or even crap, coffee is more often the norm than not in my neck of the woods I would certainly be more than happy to slam one down if there was a bit of eye candy to distract me.

Besides, I can always rinse my mouth out with a really good cuppa when I get home after putting a bit of a flirt on

Eye candy is nice but when you are paying good money you expect a good coffee.

But perhaps you are more forgiving if the lady is a goddess. :D

Re: Would you put up with poor coffee if the barista was good looking?

One thing to remember is that enjoying something is very much hinged on someones expectations. I could go to a fine restaurant and and order their scotch fillet and be very dissapointed to see a big serve on my plate with a simple salad, a big juicy steak and and some beer battered fries. Go to a pub and get the same meal and I would be ecstatic. The thing is you go to a restaurant with great expectations and when they arent met it ruins the experience.

The same could be said about coffee. I could order a coffee from certain chains and the coffee wouldnt be great but it wouldnt be unpleasant either but I would get what I expect. I wonder if anyone else is on the same wave length......

On second thoughts, that wasnt very nice - so no I wouldnt.
A cheery smiley barista is better - regardless of looks.

I thought it was hugely ironic and funny so I voted that one...also because I wanted to see the results so far! ;D

Being the barista behind the machine, I was pretty sure that people were only coming for my great coffee, not because of my looks...however, that notion was only just slightly undone recently...but thats all Im saying about that for now... ;)

Well that also counts as ironic and funny if you leave aside selling yourself short. It could be both, Scoots.

    "No way" for me.

    Its like a book.

If you love your coffee, you will see through the cover of the book and enjoy the contents, which is the coffee the barista creates.

There will always be a number of them who will seek the combination of a good looking barista as well as a great cup of coffee.

But certainly, anyone who is grounded in their sensibilities will enjoy a great cup as well as a great smile to warm the cockles of their hearts regardless of their looks.

Not nice to see a pretty blond with a unsmiling character and a very average cup. I would not be back there.

Easy answer no way, but then hire them away from the rubbish location teach them some better coffee habits and make the eye candy work for me in closer proximity. 8-)

Eye candy is the machine. I just want to find a coffee joint where the barista has a big lever. Few and far between these days.

Only levers currently in use I know of in Melbourne is the KVW @ Tobys CBD and Paridiso Roasters Clayton. Elevenses are talking about rebuilding their Boema again (currently running a KVW pump). Couple of levers in this part of the world but an ugly Barista for most of the year. ;)

Oh...okay then. I just saw your gender symbol.
What should it matter what ones Gender is *::) *Or which way one bats ? Or if there is a big lever :-X

When my partner makes a coffee for me; I know full well, that they are every thing to me ... Regardless of the cup....

Well.... For a while until they knew better... *But by then, they can make a better cup than me: So then, I get the BEST of both worlds.

    Happy V day *8-)
