[smiley=evil.gif]Very much looking forward to the Tour, I was wondering how everyone else that watches the tour deals with 21 late nights :-? (actually think it should be 22 nights).

I find myself needing extra coffee at work (extra sleep would probably be more sensible).

I watched it like a fury for the last two years, and would last until about 10km to go, then fall asleep. Even when they moved into a more forgiving time zone, 10km to go.. zzzzzzzzz. Annoyed the hell out of me.

But Im looking forward to this one starting.

I hate that >:(, or just before anything interesting happens, zzzzzz, only to be woken up by Phil Liggetts voice excitedly announcing the latest race changing upset of the day.

Oh well that’s what time-shift is for.

I was off work with a broken leg one year when TDF was on. Great timing on my part. Stay up all night and sleep by day - though the odd medical appointment got in the way. ;D

    Lets hope so :)

BMC are supposed to have built their team around Cadel this year, give him all the support needed to maximise his chances? again, lets hope so.

Robbie McEwen is out, Matt Goss is in, the wheel goes around.

The reality is that you need a good team, be a good time trialist and a great climber. I really cant see anyone challenging Schleck or Contadore because they are so superior on the big climbs where the tour is won and lost.

A bad day in the mountains is when you drop off the back of the autobus (a group of riders at the back travelling just ahead of elimination) :( :(.

Schleck dropped his chain switching from the little ring to the big ring near the summit of the Port de Balès on stage 15 into Bagneres-de-Luchon. Contador took off, ably assisted by Menchov and Sanchez. The margin he gained that day (39 seconds) was the margin by which he won the tour.

Great ride by Cadell Evans to finish second. Tears for Contadore who lost about 1 minute caught in a major pack crash!

Andy Schleck crashed inside the final 3km so he was given the same time as the bunch he had been in at the time.

Damn, sounds like a great first stage that I missed (it just seems to me that interesting things happen when Im not watching).

I was off camping with my sons scout group, all the kids got to fly motorised gliders at the Scout Air Activities Centre so it was a sacrifice worth making. The smiles on their faces when each of them got out of the glider they had flown were priceless.

    Looking forward to tonight’s stage.

Cadel Evans wins stage 5 by a matter of centimeters over Contadore! Such an exciting finish. He backed up after a great effort in the team time trial yesterday and second place on Sunday.

The win today was even more remarkable given that he had a puncture within 20 km of the finish when the peleton was really flying. He managed to change bikes and with help from his team got back to the front of the pack.

I am so spoilt here in Phuket. We get every minute live and the time difference means that the finish is around 10 pm local time.

Was a fantastic finish to the race seeing how much hurt the front riders where in with 5-10kms to go! still wondering if Contador was punching because he just lost, or thought he had it.

Lucky it finished up at 10pm for you! The 1:30-2am finishes are already starting to take their toll, but it is nice being able to watch 3 hours+ worth from 10pm!

The commentators said Contatdore thought he had won, then just pulled his fist pump realising he didnt quite get there.

And you are living in Phuket :).

A good result for Cadel, very exciting finish. Thor Hushovd did a great job too, Its shaping up to be a very interesting race.

I am always fascinated by the breakaways, I cant help hoping they will make it to the end, but the peleton always gets them in the last few km, well almost always :).

    Great stage for Cadel
Give George Hincapie the praise he deserves for this stage win, but the whole team was fantastic

Great racing tonight, good to see a breakaway succeed, Rui Costa sat out the front for the whole stage.

Cadel is looking good coming in 3rd, Vinokourov looked like he was going to get the yellow, then just disappeared. Contador* looked dangerous, then dropped away as well. Lots of attacks but the peloton ate most of them.

No change in the overall positions though.

Wow, Cadel has been riding perfectly all tour.
Its a shame they let Andy get away yesterday, I guess they thought that the large group would be able to pick him up along the valley floor.
Cant wait until 10pm! Im so nervous that he will only be able to pull back 30 or so seconds tonight

Incredible stage last night. Shame that Cadel had problems with his bike - we could speculate for hours how the result may have been different without that happening.

It sucked Paula and I in to the end. Had plenty of chess move action.

Not sure that Cadels bike woes made much of a difference, he caught Andy and Frank without too much extra effort and seemed to be happy riding to the finish with them.

No hero moments like Contadore tried 20km out, just level headed big picture stuff.

    Should be good watching tonight...

It should be a nail biting time trial, especially the last three contestants (Cadel, Frank and Andy). Its a big ask to get 57 seconds back, but Cadel has been performing fantastically. I really thought he was gone last night but he dug deep, again. I did have a little laugh when Schleck tried to get Cadel to help him to ride down Contador :D.

Voeckler must be applauded for a fantastic ride this year as well, held on to the Yellow much longer than expected, very gutsy ride.

    Must go watch.

Good for the sport that someone drug free can win. That might bring some cred back into the sport.

Who sang the anthem? She was really great... we need her to do the footy and other events that we all cringe at.

A textbook ride by Cadel and team BMC from start to finish.
Super strong work by hincapie and the boys in week one to keep their boy safe.
Great work by Cadel on* the stage into Ser Chevalier when none of the b**sterds would ride.
Then he monstered the time trial after 3 hard days in the Alps!
Bet Contador will give the Giro a miss next year.* :)
Andy, Tina Arena is now a much bigger star in France now than she ever was here. Married a frog and just lives around the corner from the finish line.

:)Yeah, yell[ow] for Cadel. This will do for cycling in Oz like Greg Norman did for golf here when he was at the top of the stack. Now I just have to wait for my new pair of carbon wheels* :D to arrive from the states and then get out there and emulate Cadels feat*::)[not] He has won not only the TDF but a legion of fans with his maturity this tour. Hope he returns to defend his title next year. Im a big wrap for George H also, the whole team was exactly that, complete and a team not like he had in previous years, well done CE :D

Doh. I just watched the link you sent and its obvious second time. Sheeze, when did she grow-up? (am I getting older too?) Just as stunning a voice second time around... the best I have ever ever ever heard the anthem... made the hair on the back of my neck stand-up.
