    HCl concentration

    Just would like some feedback from ppl using HCl for Descaling. WHat concentration did you use and how long and is the acid inhibited?

    Im gonna start at 10g/L for 20mins and go from there any comments welcome :)

    I did a test with some 2cm chunks of scale is a little plastic container with the acid at 300g/L and it dissolved the chunks in about 8 seconds

    Im no expert but Id imagine you wont have a boiler left after several treatments like that. Try it with some pieces of brass like your boiler is made of and see the effect. The surface will go from smooth to a pitted surface which will then be more susceptable to scale buildup and you will have to de-scale even more.

    I use citric acid which does not affect brass or metals anywhere near as rapidly as HCl.

    Notice im actually descaleing with acid 30 times weaker than the test ;)

    Wouldnt it be better to just get some cafetto descaling soution?? Not sure I would want a coffee from a machine that has been cleaned with HCl, regardless of flushing.

    If you have ever Had coffee at a shop with a machine that has been descaled professionaly chance is it was with HCl.
