Watch the human population skyrocket in 200 years

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
"It took 200,000 years for the human population to reach a billion and only 200 years to reach seven billion.
But growth has slowed as women have fewer babies on average. So when will our global population peak?
Check out the American Museum of Natural History's animation above which chronicles human population over time. See the slight downward blip, thanks to the bubonic plague, and growth accelerate during the Industrial Revolution."

This link is well worth a look https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUwmA3Q0_OE I shudder to think of world population density in 100 years, social problems will be horrific.

    Thanks for posting that, Yelta.

If I was clever enough I'd post a link, but alas...

Try "In a Nutshell - Overpopulation". Another youtube thing, it does not conflict with the one you posted, but there is an interesting and optimistic narration. The WHO is quoted in it as saying the 12billionth person will not be born. The implied peak in your video was around the 11b mark (ie similar). interesting as I only ever considered population would go up and up and up, barring massive catastrophes/ illness.

Still we're talking a lot of people, & we're gunna have to get good at managing resources.

Evening SBM reckon this is the one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsBT5EQt348 both interesting viewing, have to say I'm not sorry I won't be around to see the peak, Asian cities at the moment are fascinating places to visit however the concept of personal space is rapidly disappearing.

    Thanks for that.
There must be a natural maximum density of population in cities. Surely they get bigger, and more numerous, but not more/ much more dense?

Never visited an Asian city myself.

Not trying to sound nasty or even bitter but I view 'humans' as merely a "Virus" on this planet. Never has anything else in the history of time been as destructive as the human being.

i still think at some point the humans will try to wipe themselves out using their massive quantities of stupidity. It's a shame humans will also wile out so much other life and beauty in the process.

Human Beings (not Human Beans) so smart......yet so stupid.

It would be good to see the species extinction rate graph superimposed on top of the human expansion youtube video, although due to lack of data probably not doable.

It could be considered a credit to our ingenuity that we have got this far.

Possibly only 1000 human survivors got us to where we are now.

Human consciousness - of which you could say stupidity, and free will, are ingredients - is indeed both a blessing and a curse!
We were doing so well 'til someone made a decision to eat a bloody apple.

I'll watch it for as long as I can, but I don't think I'll live another 200 years.

I like Bob Brown's take: "we are the universe thinking."

Bloody hell the universe makes some questionable decisions though, eh.

The Doomsday clock has moved forward and is now 2 minutes to midnight. 7 Billion might be the cap especially when one considers that 3/4 of the worlds countries are being run by mentally insane/deranged individuals & the other 1/4 are awaiting their medical certificates to the club to be approved.

I will be disappointed if I don't get my new espresso machine & some decent beans through it before the big hand strikes 12.
