    Is Yelta a technophobe?

Perhaps, in as far as I prefer things to be working exactly as they're meant to before I outlay my cash, I did my share of Beta testing back in the mid eighties, trying to get computer operating systems to perform tasks they simply were not up to, very frustrating, all for the promise of free copies of said sh*tty software, never again.

Many years ago, (when I started shaving) my father gave me a brand new Gillette safety razor, nothing wrong with the razor, however, being a young bloke who knew it all, didn't take me long to work out that there must be something better available than a razor designed in 1901, so, from that point up until a few months back I tried a series of shaving technological breakthroughs, all promising the smoothest shave ever, most did an OK job, all were expensive.

Then a while back a thread on CS about shaving and Feather blades, combined with a lot of TV advertising for safety razors got me thinking, purchased a pre loved Gillette brass safety razor (circa 1935) $10 along with a few packs of feather blades from the Shaver Shop.

Great success, smoothest shave I've had in years, using an 80 year old razor and Feather blades (sharper and better than any past offerings from Gillette or Wilkinson Sword) and surprisingly quite long lasting, an old razor combined with new blades provided great results.

So in answer to the question posed in the title, I'm neither a technophobe nor a technophile, I select from what I believe to be the best on offer and how well it will perform for me regardless of the age of the technology.

Now, if your name was Tony Abbott then I'd have to agree, re: technophobe...

I use a Merkur Progress Double Edge razor with Astra Platinum Double Edge blades. I started DE shaving about 5 or 6 years ago. I also have a Merkur HD but I find that to be a bit rough compared to the Merkur Progress. I did try a Feather blade once, not long after I switched to shaving with a double edge razor, but it scared the living s*** out of me.

As for computers, I very much prefer Apple but I'm stuck with a Dell laptop with Windows 10 for now.

I have a beard these days so just use some Gillette rubbish to tidy up the edges... For my legs I use one of those women's razors with shaving soap built into the cartridge. The moisturiser seems to help prevent ingrown hairs.

What were we talking about again..? 🤔

Once I spent $15 getting a shave at a barber. I needed another shave the next day!

    scam.

since that I go for cheap disposable razors. Make them last for weeks/ until it starts to hurt.

Hi Yelta. If you're trying new software & trying to make it work, you can't be a technophobe. I'd call you a post- modernist.

In the future, shaving will be done by a cloud of tiny drones with switchblades. There will be a few unfortunate deaths amongst early adopters. 🤔
