    Pizza!

    Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Home made pizza for dinner while we watched the football last night.

    Easy to do and we prefer the home made to shop bought product

    Yeast dough base, tomato puree, plenty of Mozzarella, Pepperoni, crumbled up chilli and a hand full of fresh Basil leaves a few mins from the end of baking, simple and very tasty.

    Baked in a very hot oven for approx 20 minutes.

    PS Great night all round, our team had a good win.

    I started making Pizza every Saturday night when I got married 38 years ago. We would eat Pizza, drink Rose, and watch "Hey Hey it's Saturday" on TV.
    I used to make my own dough and also tomato puree. About 15 years ago I expanded my Saturday night menu to about 8 different 'fun-food' dishes to give the family a bit of variety, so that the Pizza only hits the table every two months or so. I stopped making my own dough and tomato puree when I realised that it really didn't taste any better than if I used Pizza bases from the supermarket and the little plastic containers of Leggo's Pizza sauce.
    I think it is all about the toppings. I always have Anchovies, Prawns, Pepperoni, black Olives, Capsicum and of course Mozzie cheese.
    Homemade Pizza is still our favourite dish out of all those that I cook for Saturdays.
    We miss "Hey Hey".

    I do prefer my home made yeast base to store bought, thicker, rises more, a bit more taste, just my preference, oh, did I mention its easy and quick to make.

    Batching for the next few days, the boss has gone away, have enough dough left so will probably do similar again this evening.

    Must do some this week! The pizza making frenzy. The hot pizza stones in the oven. The production line of ingredients. The pizza gorge fest.

    Rolling out the dough is great mental health therapy. :-)

    Like the no knead dough recipe Erimus, looks very good, will give it a try.

    Person who posted the first comment has a sense of humour
    "I followed your recipe and the pizza turned out great. Then I made the mistake of doing your damn Pizza Dance. I got dizzy and fell down. I knocked my front tooth out when my jaw hit the edge of the stove on my way down to the floor. I advise other senior citizens to make your pizza, but not do your "Pizza Dance." I also dropped the skillet full of pizza on my toe!!! I couldn't get up, so as I laid there on the kitchen floor waiting for help, I ate most of the pizza. I found when your front tooth is missing, it is better to pull off a bite size piece of the pizza and push it to the side of your mouth and chew using your back teeth. At least the pizza tasted good and kept me alive for three days till help arrived.

    I've made the recipe twice, the long and the quick method. The first one didn't rise as much as I thought it should, so I upped the yeast to half a teaspoon and it was better. Maybe the yeast varies slightly as she's using a US brand.

    east reacts differently depending on the environment, if the room is on the cool side it will almost stall, if too warm will take off like a volcano.

    As a matter of interest, I've noticed frequently when replying to a post the first letter I type drops to the second line (as above) only happens on Coffee Snobs, anyone else experience this? have been meaning to ask the question for a while

    Not a Pizza, but similar constituent parts?, bread, tomato sauce, cheese, protien :-). Had to share this pic anyway, had it on Saturday... very good eating at a local smokehouse. I make homemade pizzas in a Weber BabyQ - minimal ingredients too, base, tomatoe sauce, mozza just chucked on in chunks, big anchove or similar, parma or serano or similar and black olives. Reminds me of Southern Italy always.

    I prefer the supermarket pizza bases as we don't like a lot of dough, they crisp better and seem to agree with my stomach whereas the homemade dough always bloated me. Also they save me about a half hour of work.

    Recently got a Roccbox, a small outdoor pizza oven that gets to 500 odd degrees and cooks a pizza in 60-90 seconds.

    It's a steep learning curve but starting to get some great results! IMG_3910.jpg

    I cheat a little and let my breadmaker prepare the dough. Works a treat though, particularly with 00 flour. I just go for gorgonzola, a small amount of onion, a few slices of and throw some basil on it at the end. Then top with homemade chili oil.

    I use my breadmaker to roast coffee in.

    Love making our own from the base up, almost every Sunday. Far superior to bought ones.
    A very very hot oven is a must. In and out in a flash cook.

    The kitchen oven is too cold, and the rotating stone electric pizza oven we bought is even colder taking about 12-15 minutues.

    But the gas barbecue with hood does a good job in about 4 minutes.

    Have also used a Weber Kettle and charcoal with a Pizza stone - which gets reaaallly hot, get the pizza done for lunchbrunch first, then put the roast (or whatever) in for later in the day. :-)

    I've been keeping an eye on the Ooni ever since I was introduced to one by a pop-up street market vendor (back when they were called Uuni). A long-held pipe dream of mine is to have a wood-fired pizza oven in the backyard, however these contraptions appear to be a lot more practical!

    Iíve had an UUNI Pro now ooni for at least 12 months. Love it. Havenít ordered pizza since we got it. We have added the gas burner for quick cooks too and itís amazing.

    Was going to ask you that Lukemc. I'm thinking about the buying the gas for mine as well for those times when I can't be arsed.. Good to hear it gets your thumbs up.

    Awesome! So when you're not using the gas burner do you use the pellets? Same for you Caffeinator?

    Same for me. Red gum off cuts from splitting wood for the fire at home for extra heat and charcoal for a baseline temp.

    To be honest the gas is that effective itís been a while since I used wood and charcoal. You donít get the ďlick of smoke tasteĒ but the dark spotting on the crust almost compensates for it.
