Anyone traveled with their hand grinder in carry on luggage on international flights (I'm going Singapore air)?

It is much better to take it as carry on so you can explain what it is, most of the time they do not ask. Take it out and place it in a tray with other metal items for scanning
Speaking from experience if it is in checked in luggage you may find you end up in a small room unpacking your bags and explaining to security what it is.

I have traveled with my brass Zassenhaus Turkish grinder both in my packed luggage and carryon en route to Singapore (several times) without issue. The only time I've been asked about it was at Manila airport. I had to take it apart and explain it was a coffee grinder which he accepted.
BTW, Manila had the strictest airport security I've ever encountered, three security checkpoints including a full body pat down for all passengers. No cavity search thankfully but the security guy did venture uncomfortably close to the family jewels.

I have been tempted many times to DIY aeropress brew on the fold out table, when they come around offering tea/coffee just ask for hot water!!

I suspect they wouldnt allow it for fear of causing a riot amongst others after they smell the yummy brew!!

    Cheers

As Beanz said. Put it out in the open in carry on. My lido always gets checked (it does look a little bit gunny on the x-ray image.)
But its always been okay. Last time I was asked, "Does it have any blades?" I had to stop myself from saying "How dare you!?!"

Agree. My hand grinder usually goes in my hand luggage and Iíve been asked about it a few times, but never had any issues once they see it.
