I was just wondering what all of the shorting of words mean. Are they on the site somewhere? eg. I had a laugh, SO, HX etc. It just that I keep falling behind.

    Kaz
While I had a laugh as used on here means Laughing Out Loud just as the list posted, the other two abbreviations you asked about are in one case different than that on the posted list and in the other case not even included in the list.

SO as used on here means Single Origin. As in all the beans came from a single farm/plantation. In some cases while the beans come from multiple farms they are all from the same type of tree and similar growing conditions and are considered to be Single Origins. This is especially true with many African beans.

HX is short for Heat eXchanger. A method of heating water in espresso machines found mainly in commercial units.

    Re: Blond Moment

    Briefly on my podium ...

I acknowledge that language evolves to match cultural changes - but for lazy acronym texting to infiltrate & replace TRUE communication so bloody pervasively is like drinking a stale grind :P Leaves a bad taste >:(...

Its a reminder that eloquence/detail/feeling in written/verbal expression, like a great coffee experience, can be comparable - re-freshingly fresh, sometimes complex, sometimes subtle, but always personal. ;)

One of my (19yr old) casual employees, a Uni student, told me recently that she knew of several people who submitted assignments in text form. Suffice to say, they deservedly failed!

    I like smileys, though :)

    Off the podium now ...

    The above comments were expressed

IMHO BY GOD ... IHA ::)
