Over-sensitive...... I wouldnt say that. Just feel that everyone is entitled to a modicum of respect, especially in written form.

    Mal,
The world is a big place and people all over have many nick names for their spouses which are not disrespectful but considered playful,
my wife and i have a many such nickname for each other and I think the only time she
uses my actual name is when I am in trouble.
    :D
There is no need to be so persnickety!

My take on this: DAF described his wife / partner as handbreak which sounded a pretty unpleasant term to me - someone who would break his hand! I basically agreed with Mal at that point. However Lizzis explanation respelt this term as handbrake which describes it as someone who says whoa hang on a second to an impulsive idea. I have no problem at all with the second term, and I wonder whether this is simply a misunderstanding arisen from DAFs unfortunate misspelling of the term?

Anyway back to the For Sale thread... go for it Muzzi!

The only thing I got was a playful description of the better half.
Handbreak to me just means apply the brake.
Spleeing is always dubious when posting in forums, so I try not to read anything into nuances at that level.

Personally, I thought it was just fun.

    Ditto fb.

    But how about "Persnickety"?

Now theres a nick name! ;D

    Sorry Muzzi.
Sounds a great deal. Maybe a bit quiet on the roaster purchasing front after Xmas? Maybe give it a bit more time.

I find it sad that you find the need to hijack this thread on selling a roaster for your personal crusade,
Last I looked this forum was about coffee and coffee related subjects,
thus the name coffee snobs and not Mals personal crusades.
I am not surprised you have a high post count when presenting this dribble.

I saw an excellent article this morning on sunrise where Monique was interviewing a 90 year old lady who is driving around Australia, her personal views on life are fantastic.
    1. dont be critical of others
    2. dont take yourself or life to seriously
    3. enjoy life

I would suggest you consider this philosiphy.

    Re: Sydney: Hottop Digital

OK guys Im not a mod but I think its time to cool this discussion off and let Muzzi have the thread for selling the roaster. If we want to discuss the finer points of forum etiquette lets leave that to a new thread.

DAF, much as I agree you didnt intend any ill through the term you used, I dont think its appropriate to say and imply what you did about Mals posts. Hes made many many valuable posts over the time hes been here, your comment was probably borderline and whether he took it the wrong way or the right way thats the way he took it, end of story. The term may not be offensive to you or to me, but it was to him so hes entitled to say what he did as a fellow CS member. Its unfair and inappropriate to belittle the entire value of someones contribution to CS based on one possible misunderstanding.

Mods can we split this off into an OT thread so Muzzi has the thread back please?

    Greg
