Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Can anyone recommend somewhere in or around the main drag for a decent espresso?

    Black coffee lyrics.
black coffee lyrics is located opposite ‘Waxy’s” irish pub in Surfers Paradise. It’s upstairs in the Centre Arcade on Surfers Paradise blvd.

good espresso, open late at night. food is good.

The next best place is at the Ferry Rd Market:
    Ferry Rd Market
    Brickworks Centre
    107 Ferry Rd Southport
Merlos, inside the Brickworks, are reliable. There is also a cafe outside, next to Goldstar Electrics. They use Toby estate coffee and have a KVW machine. Espresso is hit and miss as the "baristar" can have attitude.

Anywhere else, beware and watch the nut behind the machine before you order.

    Thanks Bosco,
Went to Black Coffee Lyrics tonight after dinner. Espresso was made very well. Thanks for the recommendation, I never would have found this place being upstairs.

Glad you enjoyed it. It is one of the few places on the Gold Coast that can make an espresso. My daughter recommended it to me. She and her friends visit it all the time. In fact she is still there now!

    Espresso around surfers paradise

Been back to Black Coffee Lyrics everyday for my away from home espresso fix and it has been a pleasure each time, very consistent just beautiful coffee. Had breakfast there this morning which was sensational, shame they are only open for breakfast and lunch on the weekend. Definitely recommend this place to any snobs looking for a nice coffee experience.

Just got back from Surfer's myself and I can HIGHLY recommend Black Coffee Lyrics.
I was dying for a good coffee hit and I used the Coffeesnobs app to get to this thread - so glad that I did.

It's a beautiful space - albeit a bit hard to find.

I only went there for a coffee - but as I sucked down a lovely cold drip - mixed with milk and grand manier - the wife and I scanned the dinner menu and decided to stay.
Food was excellent - well made, well presented, well thought out and very tasty.
All finished off with an excellent espresso pulled from their paddle-group LM.

Staff were friendly and knowledgeable and were happy to natter about all-things coffee.
I saw them adjust the grinder at least once (and taste the shot) while we were there to allow for any drift due to temp/time etc.
It's a great thing to see.

Would also highly recommend Black Coffee Lyrics. Double espressos were were strong, thick, smooth and very tasty. Sought them out based on this thread and more than happy to go back which was well worth the 25 min walk from where we were staying in Main Beach.
