    West end Brisbane Lever espresso

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Hi guys, I'll be moving to West End in a few weeks and was wondering if anyone knows of cafes in the area with lever machines. I've been wanting to try espresso from a lever for a long time and hopefully with the amount of coffee joints in West End there might be one.

Hopefully someone knows so I don't stalk every cafe haha

I don't know of any places that use levers, but if you're at all interested in roasting, there is a place on the corner of Anthony St. that roasts in the shopfront with a fluid bed air roaster that they designed and built. The coffee is pretty good, and the staff are friendly and helpful.

I'm a lever user (some of the time) and like you, I'm interested in finding any place that uses them commercially, just to sample a few. I have a theory that any place that uses levers is more likely to care about quality than the average coffee shop, but at this stage I haven't been able to put it to the test.

I live on the deep south side of town where there are not many good coffee shops and I don't get into town or over to the northern suburbs much these days, so I tend to drink my own roasts/brews most of the time.

    Cheers, deegee.

Looks like a nice 15min walk. Roasting is something I'd like to get into some day soon, but happy to wait a while before I get into another new world :0

    Hi there :-)

The Beansmith over at Kelvin Grove on Bishop Street used to have an Athena lever but just recently let it go I believe. I have heard there is another place in the valley but have no idea where and apparently the guy just opens when he feels like it. Hope you find what you're after

Thanks for the heads up. I guess I'll have to have a little hunt in the valley too

Oh nice, I might have to check it out. Have you tried a coffee from there?
