    Brisbane--Hendra

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
When I was in Brisbane recently, naturally I went in search of good coffee. Naked in the CBD serving Campos lived up to its reputation and the Campos (?) in West End, around the corner from the main drag there, wasnt bad. Everywhere else was atrocious (Veneziano wasnt up and running yet), but one surprising find was a little cafe called Jett in sleepy Hendra (on Zillman Rd, I think). We came across it by accident, I must have noticed the chrome bling of their machines as we drove by. Their coffee is blended and roasted for them apparently by a semi-retired "Master" roaster of some renown, although I cant remember his name. The coffee is stored in silver pouch bags with no branding or labeling, in my experience this is usually a very promising sign. It was late afternoon and I was coffeed out but I really enjoyed the piccolo latte I had there. It definitely warrants further investigation. Any of you Brisbane-based CSers care to weigh in??

Jett is very nice, they had alot of trouble when setting up becuase the council decided to do roadworks the week after they opened and close down everything in front of them.

They are a bit secretive to where the beans come from but I like this.

Its on Kitchener/Zillman road and looks like this -
