    Vacu vin seals

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi Guys,
Does anyone know where I can get new seals for my vacu vin coffee containers? I know many of you don't like them but I fond them fine for a humid climate
I have tried "coffeeparts" who don't have them and emailed the manufacturer with no reply
    Thanks for any help
    Cheers
    Dr Dave

Do you have DJs or Myers in Rockvegas? Their kitchenalia section usually have them (though sometimes not in the most obvious place).

A very quick Google search (it's there for a reason) reveals replacement stoppers (seals) for as little as $14.29 delivered, or a shiny new coffee storage container for $25.95 + postage and Auspost can deliver these things right to your door

    Thanks vinitasse,
I thought I would see if any sponsors or local firms sold them and then my google search only found replacement stoppers for wine bottles.
If you have found replacements for the vacuum flask - please send me a pm with the site. I would appreciate it
    Cheers

I must admit that I am more than a bit surprised that you need to replace the seal on your coffee saver as I have Vacu Vin stoppers that are more than 15 years old that are still working flawlessly. The secret to longevity is in keeping them clean. Even the tiniest speck of dirt in the valve can easily compromise the integrity of the seal. In any event, if you really do need a new seal I would suggest you contact the local agent and they should be able to point you in the right direction.

    DrDave,

The Vacu Vin wine bottle stoppers also fit their coffee containers. They are the same.

Thank you all for your help,
I rang McPhersons today - not much luck. The wine stoppers I have don't fit the coffee container - are the new ones different that break apart to fit the coffee container barry?. Otherwise Not sure where to go from here
I'll try the company again and then maybe move to bags?
    Cheers

Why not simply drop $25 and buy a shiny new coffee storage container? Take good care of it and it should last you at least a decade.

My containers are old ones; I can remove the valves and use them in wine bottles. They must have been redesigned in the newer containers.

What do you mean by not much luck with McPherson's?

Hi TG, I rang them and they said that they do not sell seals alone, but to send them an email (which I did) 3 days ago - no response yet
    Cheers

    Hi All,
I Finally heard back from McPhersons - they do not carry this item anymore
So - anyone considering a vacu vin, (and lots of places selling them) should know that you cannot get replacement seals for them
    Cheers

Thanks for the update Dr Dave.

I am curious though. How did you manage to wear out the valve in the first place? The vacu vin seals are very durable items and I have never seen one wear out yet. Replacement valves are usually bought to replace lost, and not worn out, stoppers. Is it possible the valve just needs a good cleaning to become functional again?

    Hi Vinitasse,
They are quite old now and get used very day, but in answer I'm not sure. I have tried cleaning them but to no improvement.
My last hope is to buy a new wine stopper and break it in half and see if that works - I see now that Barry suggested that a week ago! I looked at my very old wine stoppers and they are the old "slit seal" ones , hence I couldn't see how they would fit. I see the new ones are like the coffee container seals when they break in half- hence I didn't follow up on that idea. Thanks Barry.
I will let you know how I get on
Thanks all for help and suggestions
    Dave
