    Bean Bay Brown storage?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
I really, really want to try some Bean Bay Brown beans, except for one minor issue, that being that the MOQ is 1kg and Ill never go through all that within 2 weeks. *

Everything Ive read says that fresh rosted beans are only good for 2 weeks or so and start to go down hill after that.

Typically wed go through a 250g bag a week and buy a fresh bag every week from a local roaster. *So I figure that by the end of a 1 kg pack the coffee will be close to a month old and Im afraid it wont be up to scratch by then.

Is the 2 week life span of freshly roasted beans a hard and fast rule, or are there ways to extend the useful life span of freshly roasted beans?? *Split the big pack up into smaller packs and store in the fridge??

    Well, most varieties do.
Espresso Wow is a minimum 1kg.

How about the roasted sample pack?
Its 4 x 250g bags and will certainly still be good at 4 weeks in.

Great advice already above,. but just wanted to add,.. if you do buy 1kg (WOW for an example),.yes split into smaller quantities and keep much of the 1kg of beans where they wont be subjected to constant opening of the bag from day one to end of beans. No.. not in the fridge, just in a cupboard.

    Re: Bean Bay Brown storage?

The other thing about Brown Bay is that I have received the Beans within 3 to 4 days of roasting. I live in Far North Queensland so if you live closer you may receive them quicker. Therefore they should last the distance. I have found that due to the taste (not the addictive nature) I have been consuming in 3 weeks what I used to consume in 2 months. ::)

So a kilo should not last long enough to go stale. Either that or you need to drink more coffee ;D
