    Ender (Siemens) Coffee Roaster

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi,

anybody have this roaster at home? i was given one from my uncle when i made a trip to Singapore couple of days ago. hes got bout 3 of them for years bout 10 years. and uses them regurarly.

its got Ender gmbh - made in germany tag on it. but yeah after bit of research it was made by Siemens and marketed as Sirocco Coffee Roaster. made trough the 70-80s and maybe 90s. some say its got industrial parts or basically it was well made that it doesnt break down for a loong time and Siemens eventually take it off the market.

it roasts up to around 100-125gr of greens. theres a line that marks the recommended amount of beans in the glass bean hopper. its very easy to judge the roast level by sight.

theres a chaff collector usually with some special filter paper, but got some metal fine mesh and that does the trick too. hold most of the chaff from my indo beans.

its pretty loud since it uses hot air to roast the beans similar to a popcorn roaster.. so hard to hear the 1st and 2nd cracks.

it operates by turning a knob with some numbers. bit like a timer in a bread toaster. its got a cooling system too so it helps cool the beans over a few minutes.

roasting time is bit similar to a popcorn roaster, bout 6-8 minutes depending on amount of beans and ambient temp.. cant test too much since im in jakarta at the moment and its always pretty hot here* ;D ill probably bring it to perth so i can play around with it over the next 3 weeks.

hi someone just gave me a sirocco roaster and no instruction manual. would appreciate any tips or info you can give me to help me get started. i see there is only one knob and understand i need to turn that to desired number for roasting. i assume it goes according to minutes. what about the fan cycle? is that automatically following the roast or do i need to do something else? also what times have you been using for various roasts? and can you turn it off in the middle of a roast if you see it going beyond what you want? thanks in advance. s

Hi. I have one of these that I bought for over NZ$400 about 32 years ago. I have only used it once or twice in the last 20 years. Still in perfect working order . Anyone know what it might be worth if I sold it? Brand is Ender and I bought it from Ciro Coffee in Parnell , Auckland.

I'd be guessing at about $100 you would be doing well but you might get lucky and find a collector that would pay more.
