Definitely will be great to eventually be able to buy one of these R1v2 with the new improvements![]()
Hopefully not just vapour.
From the latest Aillio newsletter:
The new PCB is being developed for the 220v models first. New Bullets sold with both the new IR bean sensor and the new power PCB will be referred to as the Bullet R1 version 2, or Bullet R1v2 for short. It is with this model that we plan to enter the Australian market, which has been waiting patiently for quite some time now.
Just a little longer… there is light at the end of the tunnel and it is quite bright.

Dear Aillio, I note your newsletter says that you are redeveloping the PCB to suit 220V supply. In Australia we are 230 +10% - 5%. We used to be 240V +/- 6%. Whichever you choose, the upper voltage limit is about 253V and the lower limit is about 219V. Compliance testing will test your appliance over this voltage range and at the upper limit of designed ambient temperature. You need to ensure that your PCB operates under these wide supply voltage and ambient temperature variations. It does surprise some coffee equipment importers (to Australia) that their 220V appliances (design and tested for European supply) fail some compliance tests in Australia because of the 230V +10% - 5% supply standard.
Espresso Company Australia (the importer) will ensure it's usable in our market... I wouldn't worry.
having dealt with this issue in our business, this could be a huge issue for an electronic power supply at around 10 Amps. it usually mean the capacitors and inductors required to suppress the emissions are large and expensive. I hope they get it sorted without too much expensive add ons.
I agree Brett. Issues around 110V, 220V versus Australian 230V for high-powered electronics and EMF emissions can be substantial. If they weren't then we wouldn't be waiting years for a 230V version that passes compliance testing. The importers are not in a position to make the roaster suitable for our 'market'. This design issue is about making the roaster suitable for our electricity system and compliant with our electrical standards. It is being resolved by Aillio's engineers working with Aus testing authorities.
looks like we might go through another xmas without this roaster... does anyone have any news of progress? I'm tempted to cancel the order now...
I've cancelled my order. It's taken too long to overcome technical challenges.
Does this mean it will require a 20 amp circuit? if so I will be cancelling my order.

Hmmm...
That'd be a good trick - Run the Espresso Machine, Grinder while in the middle of a 1.0Kg Roast of Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Special Prep....
Mal.
I am seriously interested in this roaster. I hope version with the new PCB will be available soon.
anyone get a mice update?
Be interested to hear too.
Saw a post on insta talking about a 2kg version.
I watched a demo roast at MICE, it is an impressive unit, the heat monitoring probe and roast control software were impressive, I have a bag of Sumatran beans roasted in the demo on my shelf waiting for consumption.
If I didn't already have a roaster I would trying to get my hands on one of these units.
Greenman, was this one of the V2 units with the new PCB?
any word on the final retail price?
Makes me glad I haven't given up on my pre-order of 3 years!

I’m really looking forward to some Aus reviews of this. I’ll be keen in middle of year to pick one up
