Has Garanti prices!
my name is Tine. I am a beginner roaster. At the moment I have been using Gemma roaster, product of Sweet Coffee Italia. It is a 2 kg batch electric heat generating. It works splendid, but I need to move on a larger gas machine.
Recently I have been sending e-mails to almost every producer in the world and got surprised over Has Garanti prices. They ended being waaaay lower than average price of other european producers. Has Garanti has a CE certificate, but their machine would still be a lot cheaper. So, since I dont have much experience with this range of equipment I have concerns over the quality. I hope I am not being rude, but the lower price makes me doubt about quality. I hope I am being wrong :/ Please can you advice me over this issue? HSR15 is the one I am thinking about!
Thank you so much dear unknown colleague
Best regards, Tine
Hi Tine and welcome to CS.
Has Garanti is a popular and well respected brand here in Oz. A lot of awesome coffee is roasted on HG's around the country
every day. If you were to email the Australian distributor he could tell you how many award winning coffees
have been roasted in HG's.
As far as I can tell they have a slightly lower production cost than many other roasters and their all steel ( no cast iron) construction
also contributes to the lower cost.
Has Garanti have also recently re-tooled their machine shop and are now laser cutting all their steel plate components and
are really well constructed and finished. If you are out and about looking at HG's in use, try and find one that is less than 18 months old.
Coupled with a really good gas train you will get years of happy roasting and easy manipulation of the roast profile, with features like
variable fan and drum speed control not found on many other roasters in that capacity range. There are also some interesting
modifications being done on some new Hg's here..... you might want to check out this thread:
Happy hunting! Keep us posted !
Hi there and welcome.
If you are going to buy roasting equipment of that size, you really need to contact the importers and agents of the brands you short list, visit them, and allow them to take you to equipment clients of thiers where you can view the equipment and directly ask their clients questions.
You will then be better equipped (pardon the pun) to start making some of your own decisions as to why you may think one brand may be priced higher or lower than another, if you think the price differences are justified, what one model my do better for you, and why you may in the end choose one over another.
There is no point buying equiment just because it is more conveniently priced....it has to be the best option for what you want to do regardless of the price. ie....you have to believe in what you buy.
Hope that helps.
Is anyone able to shed some light on the difference between Has Garanti and Garanti roaster?
Yes. Two completely different roasters from two different manufacturers. In addition, Australian Has Garanti roasters are imported "vanilla". All of the gas train and the overwhelming majority of the electricals are installed by the Australian importer: http://coffeesnobs.com.au/sponsors/2...australia.html. As such, our Has Garanti roaster are unique and I for one wouldn't have anything else. They punch well above their weight for consistency, usability and repeatability.
