thermocouple length for heatsnob on Behmor

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi all,
Apologies for posting this as a repeat from the tips and tricks thread but there have been no answers there.
I'm have ordered a heatsnob to use with my Behmor roaster and wondered what length thermocouple I should be ordering with it, the standard one or the longer 100mm?
If anyone has added this option, what length are you using?

    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hi Mark
I don't have a Behmor, but I do know that members have used different techniques. Some use the included wire bead thermocouple and dangle it into the bean mass through the drum centre shaft or lay it down the inside (worth a detailed CS search - lots of Behmor mods )
Some just use the short thermocouple and install it up in the top left corner (I think!). Andy has placed a template and good install guide here.
    Cheers Matt

    Thanks Matt,
I have seen the template but wasn't sure if the short or long thermocouple was best. Time to do some more searching on mods, from your comment.

    Cheers,
    Mark

I would use the bead probe and measure bean temp, I think it's the most informative reading.

It is easy and fully reversible. I used a windscreen wiper refill stainless strip for support, works great.

    Cheers

I ordered the 10mm probe before seeing your post. I will see how this goes and maybe change to the bead probe to measure bean temp later.

    Thanks for the suggestion,
    Mark

From my measurements that leaves only about 3 or 4 mm inside the chamber. Is that right?
