Only had ONE person at the function I did ask for HOT coffee... I declined with a smile.

I did have to bin one thermometer, as it was slow to respond and I dumped a full jug of milk as realised it was WAY too hot. *Stopped at 55, hand was unable to touch and after sitting for a moment went to 70 plus ??

After that my wife and i use the 3 sec rule *;D

I also found that it is an issue for Takaway cups... They are cool / room temp to start with.. Where as quality cups on the heating plate, get heated and thus assist in keeping a better temp for short blacks / espresso etc

PS. I would suggest SA is not the only place that does this...

I decided, hey I will buy a coffee at uni, I got myself a cortado, after explaining it to the barista, then picked it up and went to drink it, I scalded myself, it seems to happen way too often.

I usually get customers at work asking for their coffee "as hot as I can possibly make it" to then watch them go sit at a table and not touch it for at least 20 minutes.

I have had one customer, who did come in and ask for it to be 35 degrees, as I carefully started steaming the milk, as I went to turn the steam off, "thats it" from the customer, dead on 35 degrees(after thermometer lag caught up) Coldest cappuccino I have made.
